Privacy Policy
The short version
This site runs entirely in your browser. We do not require accounts, we do not set our own cookies, and we do not build profiles of you. Your location, if you choose to share it, is used once to find restaurants near you and is never stored by us.
1. Location data (Near Me mode)
The "Near Me" feature only works if you explicitly grant location permission through your browser. When you do:
- Your approximate coordinates are sent to our own server endpoint, which rounds them to roughly 100 metres and forwards them to the Google Places API to find restaurants near you. We do this server-side so that our API credentials are never exposed, and so that neighbouring visitors can share one cached result.
- If that service is unavailable, we fall back to the Overpass API (overpass-api.de and its mirrors), a public OpenStreetMap service, for the same purpose.
- We do not store your location in any database, and we do not associate it with you. Rounded coordinates may appear briefly in ordinary server and CDN logs and in a temporary cache of nearby-restaurant results, which expires within about an hour.
- Google processes these requests under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your browser or device settings, and the site works fully without it — the World Tour wheel needs no location at all.
2. Third-party services
To function, the site loads resources from or sends requests to third parties, which receive your IP address as part of any normal web request:
- Netlify — hosting and our serverless endpoint. Netlify processes standard server logs.
- Google Places API — nearby restaurant search, only in Near Me mode (see section 1).
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) — typefaces.
- Wikimedia Commons (commons.wikimedia.org) — landmark photographs.
- Overpass API / OpenStreetMap — fallback nearby search, only in Near Me mode.
- Google Maps — only if you click an "Open in Maps" link, which takes you to Google's site under Google's own privacy policy.
These services operate under their own privacy policies. We do not control the data they process.
3. Advertising and analytics
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are shown a consent banner and can refuse non-essential cookies; visitors in other regions may have rights under local law such as the CCPA (see section 6).

4. Affiliate links
Some outbound links (for example, table reservations, tours, or hotels) are affiliate links. If you make a purchase after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies when you visit their sites.
5. What we store on your device
Nothing, apart from any cookies set by the advertising described in section 3. The wheel's memory of which restaurants you have already landed on, and any nearby-restaurant results, live only in your browser's memory for the current page session and vanish when you leave.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, and similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not store personal data ourselves, most requests will concern the third parties above — but you can always contact us and we will help: [email protected] .
7. Children
This site is a general-audience website and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
8. Changes
If we change this policy — for example, when adding advertising or analytics — we will update this page and the date above.
