Local legend says a wish comes true if you cross Barranco's Bridge of Sighs for the first time while holding your breath the entire way.
The Sigh on the Bridge
Barranco's Bridge of Sighs took its name from a girl of fine family who loved a humble street sweeper. Forbidden to see him, she spent her evenings on the little wooden bridge, sighing toward the sea — and lovers who linger there swear the boards still sigh back.
The local landmark
Puente de los Suspiros, Barranco, Lima stands as Lima's defining structure — the sight that anchors the city in memory long after the meal is finished.
