A lesser-known fact about Stockholm

Stockholm's metro is called the world's longest art gallery — more than 90 of its stations are carved, painted and sculpted, over 110 km of track.

The Log That Chose the City

When the people of plundered Sigtuna needed a new home, they hollowed a log, filled it with gold, and set it adrift — vowing to build wherever it landed. It beached on a small island in the channel, and there rose Stockholm: the islet of the log. The treasure, naturally, has never been found.

The local landmark

Stockholm Concert Hall stands as Stockholm's defining structure — the sight that anchors the city in memory long after the meal is finished.
