Bangkok's most beloved ghost is Mae Nak, who died in childbirth while her husband was at war — and was still keeping his house when he returned. He only fled when, dropping a lime through the floorboards, she stretched her arm impossibly long to catch it. Her shrine receives offerings to this day.
